Notes from My Guests

I originally found the Inspiration/Motivation through Suite101 and so, had not been to your Web site. It's beautiful! I love your layout, your articles, the up beat feeling, your son's column. Really, I can't say enough about it. If you were ever at all interested, I'd be honored to feature any of your motivational/inspirational pieces on

... Your site really shines, both in originality and in quality. Besides the wonderful content (the articles you wrote!) the design and layout are wonderful.

-- Mark Farmer

I've really enjoyed reading your articles. You have a distinct voice that will add to the diversity of our site. . . .
After reading all of your material, I feel honored that you've allowed this personal view of yourself. You are inspiring, indeed.

Just wanted to let you know you've got a really well done website here. I just made my own site and it is still being developed, yours is really nice with all kinds of stuff and good links and info. Bravo!

Hi Ruby;

I've been wandering around on your site and enjoying it thoroughly, and I must tell you that you've done a remarkable job! I can't imagine the amount of time you've devoted to this effort, hats off to you for the dedication.

I've enjoyed the site so much that I would really like to add a link to my own site. I'm in the process of creating a page of links that would be helpful to my writers, and if I could add a link to your site it would really start things off on the right foot.

"What's New in This Writer's Life"

by Ruby Bayan

11/02/06 - I've just added feature projects to my jewelry site's Articles section. Each feature project includes a list of materials and step-by-step instructions on how to create the item. I've posted three necklaces for starters. Have fun!

09/27/06 - My latest book review is up: "My Life as a Furry Red Monster: What Being Elmo Has Taught Me About Life, Love, and Laughing Out Loud" by Kevin Clash.

Also: a call for stories by Eve Hogan for Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul: The Real Deal on Girl Stuff. Deadline for submissions is October 15, 2006.

07/07/06 - Just a quick note to say I have a new book review: "The Why Cafe" by John Strelecky.

06/13/06 - Some overdue spring cleaning at my jewelry section. Reorganized the groupings not by collection anymore but by item type. I sent in several submissions for the Stringing Fall 2006 issue coming out in October. We'll see how it goes.

05/10/06 - I'd like to plug a special announcement from a fellow writer and friend, Arlene Uslander:

Do you have an unusual story about how Fate helped you meet your mate? If so, please visit and contact one of the editors. They are also interested in general (true) Fate stories about how being at the right place at the right time, or not being at the wrong place at the wrong time, had a profound effect on your life, for a new edition of the popular inspirational anthology, The Simple Touch of Fate: How the Hand of Fate Touched Our Lives Forever.

03/28/06 - And the Web continues to weave. I've just opened a couple of new blog sites, which I hope to maintain until I get bored. One is, a photo archiving site with a rather extensive viewer/user interface, and the other is Learn-Something-New, where I'll share life's lessons -- mostly the ones I learned the hard way. So, see you there?

03/26/06 - Let me introduce a wonderful, lighthearted lady who worked with me in building her personal website: Maria Monto, author and freelance writer. Here's her brand new domain: I love her site description: "Humor and inspiration on being a mom, mid-life mayhem, and making an origami hula hoop from the divorce papers." Check her out!

02/17/06 - Stringing Magazine has put up its own site where visitors can order books and magazines, download free projects, sign up for a newsletter, and submit projects inspired by the magazine. I'm proud to be in the company of the talented contributors to this creative showcase of handcrafted jewelry.

01/08/06 - I've created a new page for my defunct Suite101 Inspiration/Motivation column, and uploaded a number of articles. I will upload more as time permits. Here's my all new Inspiration : Motivation : Action Index of Articles. Enjoy!

01/03/06 - Wow! Do I have my work cut out for me. I discovered today that Suite101 has put my Inspiration/Motivation topic in the "Topic Not Found" blackhole. So, all of my site's links to my more than 100 articles at Suite101 are dead. Which means I need to either publish all my articles here and fix all the links, or just remove all the links altogether. Well, the ever-cheery person that I am, I see a wonderful opportunity here. So, give me a little time to get my act together and check back to see my lemons-to-lemonade concoction. Oh, and I hope you have a great 2006, too!
